Frequently asked questions

Before booking

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Yes, the deposit from our individual guests amounts to 50% of the agreed total price. For groups of 10 or more people, the deposit is 30% of the agreed total price. The remaining amount is to be paid at the latest on arrival.

Which payment methods are accepted?

At our reception you can pay either in cash or by EC card. Credit card payments are unfortunately not possible.

Will there be additional costs?

In addition to the costs for accommodation and meals, which you can find under prices, the town of Winterberg charges a visitor's tax of €3.00 per person (aged 16 and over) per night. Along with this, you will receive the Sauerland Card, with which you can travel by bus and train free of charge and benefit from substantial discounts at many leisure partners, such as museums, swimming pools and ski resorts. There is an exception for school classes and youth groups.

We charge a one-off fee of € 6.00 per person for bed linen. Own linen is not allowed for hygienic reasons. Please bring your own towels from home. If you have forgotten them, we will be happy to lend you some. Towel set price: 3,50 €.

Can I reserve a room even if I am under 18 years old?

Children under the age of 14 may only stay at Hostel when accompanied by an adult. Teenagers aged 14 - 17 years are very welcome. In order to make sure that the parents agree to the booking / accommodation, we need the parental declaration from EVERY teenager, signed by a parent or guardian and a copy of an official ID of the signatory, which is available in the download area.

Is breakfast included in the price?

Breakfast is not included in the price, but can be booked for €8.50 per person.

What catering options are offered?

We offer you a free fresh water dispenser where you can fill your own drinking bottles.

Lunch and dinner are generally available from 15 persons. During the winter season we offer a warm dinner. Self-catering is not possible. At Hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe you can choose from a wide range of drinks. On request, the following are possible: a lunch snack for groups, packed lunches, barbecues and other types of catering (vegetarian, gluten-free etc.).

We offer breakfast to all guests. Individual travellers can also take advantage of our other catering services on request. Please note that this offer is only available by arrangement and depending on the groups in the house.

Are animals allowed to be brought along?

Pets are also welcome guests. We charge €5.00 per pet per night. Out of consideration for the other guests, we ask that you keep your pets to a minimum in the public areas.

Are barrier-free rooms available?

Unfortunately all our rooms are located on the upper floors. Our house does not have an elevator, which is why we are unfortunately unable to offer barrier-free access.

Equipment and services

Are bed linen and towels provided?

Bed linen must always be booked in addition and is charged once at € 6.00 per person. Please bring your towels from home. If you have forgotten them, we will be happy to lend you some. Prices towel set: 3,50 €.

Do the rooms have private or shared bathrooms?

About half of our rooms have their own bathroom with shower and WC. Some rooms have a washbasin. In the corridors you will find modern floor showers and toilets with individually lockable cabins.

Do the rooms have a TV?

No, our rooms don't have a TV. However, Hostel has a shared TV room, which you are welcome to use.

Is there free WLAN in the house?

In our Hostel WLAN is available to you via free radio.

Are parking spaces available at Hostel ?

Directly at Hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe there are free parking spaces for our guests.

Do I have any advantages by staying at Hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe ?

As long as the weather permits and the respective facilities are open:
Our guests receive a free ride on the summer toboggan run (during the summer season). From two nights you will receive a 10% discount at Bikepark Winterberg (for stays during the Bikepark season; not valid for season tickets). You will also receive a discount in the same amount during the winter months at the ski rental Brinkmann.

Is there a guest kitchen available?

Unfortunately we do not offer a kitchen for self-catering.

Is there a possibility to store our luggage somewhere?

After consultation there is the possibility that a room is available for this purpose.

How do I find this Hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe ?

When are check-in and check-out times?

Our rooms and beds are available for you on the day of arrival at the latest from 15 o'clock. For arrivals after 18 o'clock we ask you to inform us in advance. On the day of departure the rooms have to be vacated by 10 am.

Late check out is possible subject to availability and advance notice. We charge this additional service as follows:
- room use until 12:00 noon 5,00 € p. p.
- room use until 4:00 p.m. 7,00 € p. p.
- use of the shower on the floor on the day of departure 3,00 € p. p.

Which languages are spoken?

We speak German and English.

Is smoking allowed at Hostel ?

There is an absolute smoking ban throughout Hostel .

Are there lockers available?

The Hostel unfortunately does not have any lockers.

Is it possible to wash your own laundry?

No, I'm afraid that possibility does not exist.

When does the night's rest begin?

We would like to ask you to move around the floors and rooms at an appropriate volume and to keep the night's rest from 22:00 to 06:00. During the rest periods you can stay in the lounges at the level of the reception (TV room, lounge, group room) so as not to disturb the other guests.

Where to put my bike/ski?

We offer you a code-secured storage room in front of the entrance to Hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe , where you can safely lock your bikes during the summer months and your skis in winter. A compressor and tools for small screw work are available. Wet clothes can be hung up in the drying room. The use of both rooms is at your own risk and responsibility.

Bicycles must always be additionally secured. Bicycle locks can be rented at the reception for a deposit of 20,00 €.

Problems

At what times is the reception desk manned?

The reception desk is manned at the following times:

Monday - Saturday 08:30 - 18:30
Sunday 08:30 - 12:30

Is it possible to change a confirmed reservation?

From the time of reservation, one change per transaction is possible. Subsequent changes may be charged at €10.00 per change.

What are the cancellation fees if I am unable to arrive after all?

Individual travellers up to 10 persons:
- up to 2 weeks before arrival free of charge
- up to 1 week before arrival 30% of the agreed total price
- from the 6th - 2nd day before arrival 50% of the agreed total price
- from the 1st day before arrival 85% of the agreed total price
- in case of no-show 100% of the agreed total price
- If discounts Specials or special offers were booked via online booking portals, they cannot be cancelled.

Groups from 10 persons:
- up to 8 weeks before arrival free of charge
- up to 4 weeks before arrival 30% of the agreed total price
- up to 1 week before arrival 50% of the agreed total price
- from the 6th - 2nd day before arrival 75% of the agreed total price
- from the 1st day before arrival 85% of the agreed total price
- in case of no-show without cancellation 100% of the agreed total price
