"Far more than just winter sports"

Winterberg is best known for winter sports. Throughout the year - even in summer - national and international competitions are held in a wide variety of disciplines. All hobby sportsmen and women also get their money's worth. But there is much more to discover besides.

The St. Georg ski jump and the adjacent practice jumps are not only a training ground for many young talents of the region, but also the main jump is a vantage point and landmark of the holiday world Winterberg. Approximately 750m from Hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe , it extends over the landscape with a tower height of 43m.

The Veltins EisArena regularly hosts competitions in bobsleigh, luge or skeleton. The riders thunder down the over 1,600-metre-long ice canal at a top speed of up to 150 km/h. From the Panorama Erlebnis Brücke you have a wonderful view of the entire facility. Exciting guided tours of the bobsleigh run will give you even deeper impressions. If you have the courage, you can even take a seat in the Taxi-Bob yourself.

Another vantage point with an impressive view is offered at Kahler Asten. With over 841m it is the second highest mountain in North Rhine-Westphalia. At the top of the mountain there is a lookout tower, which offers a breathtaking view of up to 100 kilometres on a clear day. Around the Kahler Asten you will find a variety of hiking trails all year round.

You can also spend the day relaxing in the city centre of Winterberg. The mix of historical old town and modern buildings has a very special charm that will make you forget about time. In the numerous restaurants you will be well looked after and shopping facilities are also available.

In the neighbouring town of Hallenberg, too, you will find the Heidekopf Tower, a lookout point that will bring you closer to nature and the scenery of the Sauerland.
